How to Stay Safe When Forced to Drive on Wet Roads

Keeping your vehicle as safe as possible when driving in the rain takes some persistence. Here are a few things to keep in mind as the highway gets wet.

Turn off the cruise control when the rain starts falling. If the car begins to hydroplane, the cruise will speed up the tires to try and maintain the set speed, sending the vehicle into a slide. Turn off the cruise control whenever the road surface is wet, or it is raining outside.

Increase the driving distance between your car and the car in front of your vehicle. This is good driving practice on wet roads because the tire treads can only grab so much of the roads when they are wet. Maintain a larger distance until the roads dry up.

Visit Fairway Lincoln and our team will look to make certain the tire treads are in the best shape possible for wet roads.
